Economic Freedom and Air Quality

economic-freedom-and-air-quality-coverThe Fraser Institute, a major Canadian think tank located in Vancouver has just released an important report (40 p.) stressing that “Economic freedom is one of the main drivers of economic prosperity… Economic institutions that contribute to economic freedom may actually lead to a cleaner environment at the same time” as illustrated by the Environmental Kuzntz Curve (EKC). Veting the statisticcs of over a hundred countries the authors found out that ” a permanent one-point increase in the Economic Freedom of the World Index results in a 7.5% decrease in concentrations of fine particles in the long run” but no influence on CO2 emissions.
